Special Guest - Elmer Dengler, USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (retired). Elmer has been studying monarch butterflies since he was a teen and is currently a member of the Bowie City Green Team, RePollinate AA County, Bowie-Crofton Garden Club NRCSSoil Conservation Service, and volunteer with the Patuxent Wildlife Refuge. Elmer initiates and leads native habitat restoration projects and installations and engages many audiences on benefits and techniques of planting and managing pollinator habitat.
Elmer will speak about his twenty years of finding the best ways to introduce people to pollinator habitat management as opposed to just a garden of miscellaneous native cultivars that do not address habitat restoration, education, or sustainability in traditional parks and public areas.
