Planting the American Legion River Garden

  • American Legion Post 60 2 Main St. Laurel, MD (map)

Laurel for the Patuxent is partnering with American Legion Post 60 to install a new native garden along the Patuxent River. This will not only provide a lush, peaceful garden for Legion members, it will also provide valuable habitat for butterflies, bees, birds, and small mammals.

For this first planting day, please bring garden/work gloves, comfortable work clothes, shovels, metal rakes, trowels, weeding tools, and a full water bottle. We will have some extra tools on hand to share (bring your own to share if you can). We will be adjusting some mulch layout, weeding invasive species (we'll teach you to identify them), and planting the first round of plants for spring. Expect to work a lot and learn a lot.
